Designer Biography
Martin Szekely
1956 —
Martin Szekely is the son of ceramist Véra Székely and sculptor Pierre Székely. His work comes to prominence with his design of the « Pi » long chair in 1982.
Szekely both works with exclusive design editors like Neotu Gallery, Kreo Gallery or Domeau & Pérès, and industrials like Perrier, Heineken, or JC Decaux.
Some of his objects have reached a very large audience like the Perrier glass which was produced in 20 million units. His limited edition items have become highly sought after by power design collectors like Azzedine Alaïa.
His designs are among the collections of many important museums like Paris’ musée des Arts Décoratifs, MOMA or Mudam.
In 2011, Paris’ Pompidou Center offered him a solo show entitled « Ne pas dessiner » .
